The freedom he yearned was nothing more than grasping at a past memory. He knew there was nothing that could bring back the simpler days of the cottage in the woods. It had already been ripped from him all those years ago. The freedom he now sought was nothing more than the desire to remain untethered. That meant no more job that he was forced into, and that meant he could not plant his roots.
A month back, he recalled the trainers he had met when he was young. They may or may not have been the catalyst that destroyed his home, but the adventures they spoke of had captured the imagination of a little boy. Though he may be older now, perhaps he could still live such a life.
The first thing Yuichi did upon his arrival in Starlight Town was seek out a source of caffeine. There was only one cafe in the entire town! The flood of tourists and wannabe trainers should be enough to warrant at least one more cafe. He kept his complaints to himself and acquired his to-go mocha.
He spent the next hour or so wandering around the town, sipping away at his drink. Tossing the cup once he spotted the Pokemon laboratory in the distance, Yuichi made his way down the path. The automatic doors slid open with a chime as he stepped up to them. Through the doors, he turned on his heels as golden eyes swept across the interior of the front lobby.
With a slight bounce to his step, he neared the receptionist's desk. "Pardon me," his voice was soft and smooth, and the smile on his lips matched his tone. "Do you allow walk-ins?"

The professor was busy oprganizing eggs, her Alolan Ninetales helping her put eggs and incubators on shelves where they will remain safe. The young woman then turned toward the boy who had walked in, and let off a hmm as she walked to her desk. "Welcome to the lab.. I trust you are here to get a starter pokemon? Is there any sort of pokemon you really want?" she was trying to figure out which starters would be best for this new person to check out. "Oh i'm professor Claressa by the way.."[break][break]
The alolan ninetales that was out of its pokeball sat next to it's trainer looking at the new person. She was trying to gauge what kind of person this guy was, and also if she should be worried. The fox eventually relaxed when she sensed no ill will from the boy. The fox then relaxed it's tails, staring at the boy intently.

Rather than the receptionist he had addressed, a woman organizing eggs and their incubators farther back responded. Golden eyes flitted from the counter to the woman and her Ninetales (fur as white as snow - a variation he had yet to see in Kanto). Another aide? The person in charge? The unspoken question was answered when she offered her name and title.
The smile on his lips grew.
"Nice to meet you, professor. I am Yuichi." His greeting was paired with a respectful partial bow that only required a decline of his head. He brushed strands of stray blue hair behind his left ear as he straightened. "Regrettably, I have yet to decide on what I want. Do you have any suggestions for a fledgling trainer?"
He was not as green as he was letting on, but that was information she did not need to know.

The Professor thought about it as she looked at the boy, and went to the back coming back with two pokeballs for him lettign the two pokemon out.... as she smiled. "Judging by your personality so far as you came in, you seem to match The Water/Electric Type Dratini that we give out. Or, You can choose the Mega Evolving Eevee we offer which turns into a eevee of multiple types... It's up to you!" The Professor was confident about this... this was the best pokemon that matched this boys personality, but the eevee also wanted to get out of the lab too.It was up the the trainer which of the two pokemon he picked.. but both seemed eagur to leave. The Alolan Ninetales had put the last egg in an incubator using her tail to put it up on it's ledge on the back wall and went back to it's trainer smiling at the boy.[break][break]

A what now? Golden eyes snapped to the Pokemon as they were released. His gaze first swept across the long figure of a light blue and yellow creature bearing some resemblance to the Dratini he had seen in Kanto, but this one had fins! He had heard mentions of strange variants in other regions, and his former organization's scientists had apparently been experimenting on something similar. Was it natural? Artificial? He wanted to know.
He crouched before the two Pokemon, a hand reaching out for the Dratini to sniff while curious eyes turned to the Eevee. If it could mega evolve, then it might not be able to evolve the usual way. A shame. That alone was enough to make up his mind, but he reached out with his other hand to give the Eevee a quick scratch behind the ears before he stood up.

The Professor nodded and gave him the dratini's Pokeball, as well as his starter items as she smiled. "Be careful adventuring the region,.. accordign to the Hurricane City Gym leader these red skies are not normal.." The professor explained with a sigh. "I rarely see the outside of the ab but the times i did the sky wasn;t red so i'm inclined to believe him... be very careful!" The professor looked down concerned about the fate of the region and why this was happening. Also the new Mall that opened near her Lab was kinda suspicious as well but she couldn;t say much. The Alolan Ninetales waves at Yuichi with her tails, as if a see you again some day gesture as she went back to check on the other baby pokemon the professor was taking care of.[break][break] Pokemon Info to fill out:[break] [break] Delta Dratini[break] Level:10[break] Gender:Choice[break] Ability:Swift Swim/Volt Absorb[break] Moves:Wrap,Leer, Thunder Wave, Electroweb,Icy Wind,Mimic[break] Personality:A sweet Dratini who always wanted to see the outside of the lab. Yuichi returned the Dratini once he received its Pokeball. He would have to figure out the travel situation later since the Dratini was so long. And the water typing was worrisome - did he need to keep its skill damp? He'd find out later.
"I hold no promises about caution, but I'm at least confident in my ability to get out of a sticky situation." Yuichi flashed a cheeky grin at the professor. "Thank you for the Pokemon and the advice, professor. I'll get out of your hair." He bowed his head once more before turning on his heel and heading toward the door.
He paused briefly a few steps out of the lab and looked to the sky. "It's probably just a Pokemon." One powerful enough to overcast an entire region. A legend? He wanted to find out.
